Q: Who currently owns and uses the Havoline brand of products in the United States?
A: Chevron is the owner of both the Havoline brand and the Texaco Xpress Lube brand.
Chevron currently sells and distributes lubricants, motor oils, antifreeze, and coolants under the Havoline family of brands in the United States as part of the Oct. 9, 2001, merger of Chevron and Texaco, Shell Oil Products US and Motiva Enterprises, LLC held, until Aug. 13, 2003, a nonexclusive license also to use the Texaco and Havoline brands for the marketing of lubricants, coolants and antifreeze in the U.S. Chevron has the right to use the Texaco and Havoline brands for lubricants, coolants and antifreeze in the U.S. during this period and thereafter.
Q: What is happening with Texaco Xpress Lube outlets in the U.S.?
A: Texaco Xpress Lube outlets are convenient, fast oil-change centers that feature Havoline products. Chevron owns the Xpress Lube brand and supplies many of the Texaco Xpress Lube outlets in the U.S. Shell Oil Products U.S. had a nonexclusive license to use the Havoline and Xpress Lube brands in the U.S. until Aug. 13, 2003. Prior to that date, Chevron also had the right to use the Xpress Lube brand in the United States and worldwide during that period and which now continues into the future.
Chevron does not market Texaco credit cards in the U.S. As a result, Texaco credit cards cannot be used at Texaco Xpress Lube outlets supplied by Chevron. The Chevron credit card is accepted at Texaco Xpress Lube outlets that are supplied by Chevron.
