| A new title sponsor for the Ginetta Championship
One of the most successful single make motor racing championships in the UK is now being supported by Chevron. It continues a long tradition of motor sport involvement by Chevron through their Texaco Havoline brand and maintains a long and successful relationship between Texaco Havoline and LNT Automotive.
Promoted as one of the most significant developments to have impacted on the Ginetta Championship since its inception, the Texaco Havoline title sponsorship will further underline the growing importance that the Ginetta Championship is currently enjoying.
Texaco Havoline has a long and successful history of supporting global motor sport. In recent years the company has supported entrants in both the British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship. In addition to the Ginetta Championship sponsorship in 2007, Texaco Havoline is continuing it's sponsorship of the Panoz GT2 cars which won the 2006 GT2 class Le Mans 24 hr race.
"We have many opportunities offered to us in regard to motor sport sponsorship" said John Jackson of Chevron Global Lubricants, "given our long association with Richard Dean and his LNT Team, we see the sponsorship of this up and coming one make series as an ideal fit for ourselves and our Texaco Havoline brand."
LNT Automotive's managing director Richard Dean said, "In Texaco Havoline we have a hugely credible partner for the most successful one make racing series in Europe. All Ginetta's range of road and race cars use Ford engines and the Texaco branded product range is ideally suited for all applications. Chevron have been involved in motorsport and proving its Havoline products from Formula 1 to karting for as long as I can remember. Indeed a Texaco branded McLaren with Ford Cosworth engines and James Hunt won the F1 World Championship 30 years ago. The Ginetta Championship with Texaco Havoline support now has the resources to take the series to a new level."
Martin Phaff, Ginetta Car's managing director commented, "The series is a high profile racing package and it is fantastic to have a vital sponsor in Texaco Havoline. The prize fund will be increased for 2007 and the TV coverage improved. The Championship will naturally hot up ensuring continued excitement in the races."
The official launch of the sponsorship deal was unveiled at the Autosport Show at the NEC earlier this year. F1 commentator and pundit Tony Jardine attended the launch and confirmed that he would again be driving the celebrity car in 2007. "It's great fun" , said Tony, "I've quite a few memories racing a Ginetta and always loved it. It's a great car, a great Championship and I am glad to be part of it."
