Fuel Systems
Carburettor TOP
During normal operation of the vehicle,
the throttle body and intricate
passageways may become gummed with deposits from the fuel. These deposits
upset the precise metering of
the fuel air mixture into the engine.
Symptoms include, Hesitation, stalling
and even loss of power.

Fuel Injectors TOP
The opening of a fuel injector is about
the width of a human hair. Deposits at
the tip can impact on fuel flow and
spray pattern, upsetting the air/fuel
mixture and causing incomplete
combustion.
Symptoms Hesitation during acceleration, loss of power, increased emissions of
un-burnt fuel and carbon monoxide.

Intake Valves & Ports TOP
Intake vales and port deposits can
effect the both the fuel mixture and
the ability of the valves to seal
correctly thus effecting the
compression with the cylinder.
Symptoms Poor driveability, difficult
starting, loss of power, increase
emissions of hydrocarbons,
carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.

Combustion Chamber TOP
Deposits in the combustion chamber
are the most difficult to remove.
There are two main reasons why
it is important to control combustion chamber deposits. Firstly chamber
deposits increase the minimum octane
value of the fuel required for the
engine to run without knocking . In
most new vehicles knock sensors
prevent pre-ignition but at the
expense of power. In older vehicles
to prevent knocking customers have
to buy higher octane fuels. Removal
of these deposits allows the vehicles
original performance to be restored
and eliminated the need to purchase
more expensive higher octane fuels. Second in older carburetted vehicles combustion chamber deposits increase temperatures within the combustion chamber which can cause auto-ignition
(run on) after the engine has been turned off.
Symptoms include, Knocking, pinging
and run on, higher octane requirement,
poor acceleration, increased emissions.

Diesel Fuel Pump TOP
Diesel fuel has traditionally contained
high levels of sulphur. These days low sulphur fuels are mandatory in many countries because if environmental regulations. The refinery process that removes the sulphur also remove
compounds that help provide lubrication
to the diesel fuel injection pump.
Without proper treatment and lubricity additives, low sulphur fuels can
shorten the service life of the fuel
pump. Some diesel fuel manufacturers
do add lubricity additives to the diesel
fuel, but there is nothing to identify
the lubricity of the fuel at the pump therefore many motorists may
unknowingly put low lubricity diesel
fuel into their fuel tanks.
Crankcases TOP
Changing engine technology and the
ongoing development of more efficient engines means that today’s modern
engine has been designed to operate
within ever tighter engineering
tolerances. Deposits on critical engine components have been shown to
have an increasingly negative impact
on engine operation and performance.
The engine oil in your car plays a vital
role within your engine as it performs
many functions within the engine
including cooling, lubrication, cleaning
and rust prevention.
Over time engine oil deposits can
build up within your engine, these
can take the form of sludge, residues,
and lacquers.
These deposits can build up to block
or restrict critical oil pathways within
the engine therefore reducing the flow
of oil through the engine and can
lead to:
•Reduced Oil Flow
•Increase wear leading to reduced •component service life
•Increased Engine Temperature
•Higher Oil Pressure
•Sticking Piston Rings
Air Conditioning TOP
Have you ever noticed a stale smell
when you turn on your car’s air
conditioning system?
Air conditioning systems operate by
passing the external air through a
condenser prior to it entering the
passenger cabin of your car. The
condenser chills the air and as part
of the process condensation forms
around the chilling unit. This means
that the core of the air conditioning
system is relatively damp and allows
stale smells to develop from mould,
fungi and other bacteria which can
breed within this environment.
This foul air is then transferred into the passenger cabin when you turn on
your air conditioning system.
